Orthodontic treatment

Orthodontic treatment involves moving the teeth with braces in order to make them straight and to correct the bite.

Dr. Srikrishna Chalasani has done masters in Orthodontics and has all expertise and equipment to make sure that your teeth are perfectly positioned.

1. Metal braces

Silver braces are more traditional in appearance but just as precise and efficient at moving teeth.

2. Tooth coloured fixed appliance (train track braces)

Modern braces are discreet, comfortable and hardly visible. Most of the adults are choosing to wear these kinds of braces with confidence.

3. Lingual (tongue side) braces

Tongue side braces are truly invisible, nothing shows at all. They are basically braces struck to the tongue side of the teeth instead of the lip side.

Aligners

  • Aligners treatment is an alternative to traditional orthodontic braces where a set of clear trays are custom made for your mouth using computer software, a work towards alignment of your teeth.
  • Aligners is a great option for the student/professional with an active social life. Aligners usually works best when there is a minimal amount of misaligned teeth, so consult Gandhi Super Speciality Dental Clinic to find out if this is a suitable option for you.
  • Following the discussions with the orthodontist about your expectations of treatment, a detailed clinical evaluation will be done. X-rays, photographs and dental scans are used to assess your teeth and jaw position. The process of movement of your teeth will be shown to you on the computer screen. If you are satisfied with the final predicted appearance of your teeth, the orthodontist approves the treatment and the aligners are delivered to you in one month by your orthodontist at Gandhi Super Speciality Dental Clinic.
  • The duration of treatment differs from patient to patient. Duration of treatment will be explained in detail by our specialist after complete clinical examination.

  • Aligners can be faster than braces in certain cases as multiple teeth movements can be facilitated simultaneously.
  • The aligners must be worn for a period of 22 hours a day at minimum. The aligners should be removed while eating and brushing your teeth. Mild discomfort is felt initially which will gradually subside and no any dietary restrictions.
  • You must visit the specialist at least once in 3-5 months during the course of treatment for follow up visits.
  • Following are simple instructions you must follow when using aligners.

  • Rinse aligners with water when you remove them.
  • Do not use hot water to clean aligners.
  • Clean aligners with soap. Do not use toothpaste to clean them. A soft brush can be used to clean the aligners.
  • Place the aligners in your box, when it is not in the mouth.
  • You must brush and floss before you wear the aligners.
