Dental implants are titanium inserts which are surgically positioned in the jaw bone present below the gums to replace the missing tooth. These are bio compatible and ADA approved. Once the implant is placed, bone attaches itself to the implant - OSSEOINTEGRATION (which might take 3-6 months of time)

Advantages of Implants.

  • They are fixed, hence increasing the chewing efficiency.
  • They provide stability for dentures while also reducing long term bone resorption.
  • They replace the teeth in the missing area, without altering the teeth on either side of the space.
  • They are highly aesthetic, and can be easily well maintained.
  • How is surgery performed?

The procedure is performed under either local or general anaesthesia in the dental office. The integration of bone takes place as soon as healing progresses and implant fixtures firmly anchor to the bone within 4-6 months.

  • Any stitches placed will be removed during a follow up appointment which is usually after 7-10 days.
  • Patients are advised to eat soft food for 2-3 days and avoid very hot temperature foods on the day of surgery.
  • Dental implants range from Rs 35,000 to 60,000/- including the crown. This wide range variation in the cost of the implant depends on which company implant is used, need for bone grafting, need for temporary crown, and the country from which it is imported. Foreign country implants are much more expensive than implants manufactured in the home country due to pricing structure in their respective countries.

With proper care and maintenance implants last for a very long time and do not require replacement. Failure rate depends on the presence of any systemic diseases like uncontrolled diabetes and heavy smokers.
